Massage Therapy: A Quick Study

For a quick study on massage and the history, uses and modalities of massage, go to Wikipedia and take a gander.

There may be enough information here to use as a reference for new clients, or potential clients to deliver a firm backgrund in the legitimacy and options for massage work.

Though I seem to have looked over the obvious, Wikipedia has been around for a while. It's a great resource for quick study on just about any topic.

The Successful MT

If you were to look back on your massage career 20 years from now what would you see? Probably a lot of hard work, persistence and change . . . but would you be a success?

Well . . . that's a determination each of us has to ultimately answer for ourselves, but it brings up the question; what does it take to succeed in a massage business?

Massage is a growing field, and career options have increased dramatically since its humble beginnings. With the changes in public perception, lifestyle and awareness, there have also been changes in competition, legislation and direction, all of which make the questions above more meaningful to massage businesses planning to succeed.

Massage Marketing . . . Transference?

Old school massage opinion has traditionally been, sales of products
to clients equals transference of trust and/or potentially taking
advantage of the client/therapist relationship.

A wise practitioner is ever vigilant to not cross this line.

Times however have changed. And, while transference is still a
cautionary watchword, I'd like to tweak the perspective a little.
