There are so many variations on what your massage career can look like, that some of you get confused or hesitate coming out of massage school.
Should you become a massage employee, and work for an hourly wage?
Should you choose Independent Contractor and go it on your own?
Should you work part-time at massage and build a full practice later?
Should you use your training and massage income as a lever to another trade?
What's your passion? Medical massage? Western styles? Energy work? Shiatsu? Cranial Sacral? Polarity? Traeger Work? Rolfing? Something else?
There's many choices and it could take awhile to find your footing, but don't worry, there's help.
I reccomend getting involved with your peers. Fellow massage therapists with question of their own talk daily on discussion boards and online groups. There are several professional groups that stand above the rest, and offer you a safe haven to comment and inquire and get support and direction from some of the best in the massage field.
My own group, Massage Marketing Rebellion Yahoo Group is one. You may also enjoy Julie Onofrio's Massage Practice Builder, and Yahoo's Body_Work Group.
Whether it's just a few resources you need, or a personal coaching session, send me an email and let me help you find direction. There's no need to go it alone . . . and bouncing your ideas off a knowledgeable peer can move mountains both personally and professionally.
