Zero Gravity Chairs is a bit of a misnomer. It actually means they provide zero compression of the spine when reclined.

There are so many variations on what your massage career can look like, that some of you get confused or hesitate coming out of massage school.
Should you become a massage employee, and work for an hourly wage?
Should you choose Independent Contractor and go it on your own?
Should you work part-time at massage and build a full practice later?
Should you use your training and massage income as a lever to another trade?
What's your passion? Medical massage? Western styles? Energy work? Shiatsu? Cranial Sacral? Polarity? Traeger Work? Rolfing? Something else?
There's many choices and it could take awhile to find your footing, but don't worry, there's help.
I reccomend getting involved with your peers. Fellow massage therapists with question of their own talk daily on discussion boards and online groups. There are several professional groups that stand above the rest, and offer you a safe haven to comment and inquire and get support and direction from some of the best in the massage field.
My own group, Massage Marketing Rebellion Yahoo Group is one. You may also enjoy Julie Onofrio's Massage Practice Builder, and Yahoo's Body_Work Group.
Whether it's just a few resources you need, or a personal coaching session, send me an email and let me help you find direction. There's no need to go it alone . . . and bouncing your ideas off a knowledgeable peer can move mountains both personally and professionally.

Peace is not a place to go
Nor object held in gripping hand
Yet inherent deep within your self
When you come to understand
That who you are is greater
Than all the things you'll ever do
Through shift of mere perception
Peace is a sacred point of view

It has been established by psychologists and neouroscientists that every person in the world carries an ongoing dialogue with themselves, of between 150 and 300 words a minute. This works out to be between 45,000 and 51,000 thoughts a day. That's a lot of input!
But how much of this dialogue is negative or rooted in fear?
It's interesting that most of us experience conflict when someone in our personal environment speaks to us or about us in a negative way. Often we'll avoid that person or situation, or defend ourselves to the point of confrontation or maybe even end the relationship.
But what do you do when the negative talk is inside you?
Are you even aware that your own internal dialogue may be working against you?
Internal dialogue often becomes a point of empowerment when you can tune in to what you are saying to yourself between 45,000 and 51,000 times a day, and filter out the negative messages, replacing them with messages that empower your perspective. What you tell yourself is important, and it deeply affects your attitude.
I recently heard this story from a client.
"I've suffered a lot of anxiety when I get lost driving. For years it could send me into a panic attack. Yet I learned to play a game with myself when this happens. Now, when I get lost I tell myself I'm on a grand adventure in a place I've never been, and that helps me release my fears and actually have fun. I see the strange environment as if I'm in a new land, which makes me curious and I immediately feel better."
It's interesting that just changing the story we tell ourselves can shift our perspective, and give us the energy to move forward with a better attitude.
What are the messages driving you?
What is the worst thing that you tell yourself over and over?
What positive message could you replace the negative one with?
How might that change or impact your life?
It's no mystery that this is an area that I focus on with my clients.
If you're curious how this works, contact me for a free collborative discovery call. It just might change your perspective.

When I was in massage school we did a t'ai chi exercise everyday before we started class.
The class enjoyed it so much that we sometimes did it twice.
Like the folks you see out in the park gliding through half hour katta's and gyrating with meditative partners, our little exercise took just a few minutes and had a childlike playfulness to it.
It grounded me deeply in my body and intention.
The instructor would recite the following chant as we moved our bodies in reflective positions. And, as the words were spoken, I heard my own voice beckoning.
I didn't realize it then that I live by this mantra.
I've written the mantra below in black, the softer font is what came to my mind as I heard it.
Here it is:
Join Heaven And Earth
Join Body, Mind and Spirit
Embrace Tiger
Embrace Challenge, Embrace Change
Return To Mountain
Return to Root, Return to Essence
Open Tiger
Open to the New and Share
Touch Heaven And Earth
Be Present In Body, In Spirit
Blend Heaven And Earth
Create and Manifest From Source
Bring To Center And Give Outwardly
Draw Forth What You Need And Give
What You Give Comes Back To You
Give More Than Expected
Gather Energy From All Directions
Gather Possibilty From Source
Bring To Center And Then Share With The Whole World
Own Your Unique Expression and Share It With All You Encounter
Join Heaven And Earth, And Bow
Be Grateful, For All That Is, Is Humbling
This mantra is a metaphor for who I am, who I want to be, and what I bring to coaching and massage.
Though I have much personality, and many expressions, this is the mark I leave on earth.
If this inspires you, then we have a great deal to share.
Coaching for Change is just what it implies.
The world is evolving, with or without us.
Why not embrace tiger?
